Parent and child meet up - Let’s Talk Communication

Autism Support Louth/Meath are holding a series of mornings in Holy Family Community Centre in Ballsgrove that are open to parents who have any concerns about their child’s communication skills (with or without a current ASD diagnosis).  Families with children of all ages are welcome.  We will provide tea and coffee and there will be some toys for the children to play with.  There will be a short talk about a topic and then an open forum to discuss afterwards. We will have information and examples of various communication strategies and programmes that might be useful for you and your family and it will be an opportunity to meet other similar families.  Parking is free.

Some topics we will discuss

Joint Attention - what is it and how to work on it with your child.

Receptive communication - ways to help your child understand what you are saying.

Expressive communication - ways to help your child express what they want or need.

Visual communication - ways to use visual supports such as schedules.

Courses - some information on some courses that are available at the moment.

Meet ups are being facilitated by a primary school teacher with many years of experience working with autistic children and families.  Hope you can make it
